LOUIS PODAIMA
June 23, 1922 - January 21, 2014
Peacefully surrounded by the love of his
family, Louis "Lou" Podaima, our beloved
father, grandfather and great-grandfather
passed away on January 21, 2014 at the age
of 91.
Lou was a down-to-earth, warm and
good-natured individual, and he will be
deeply missed by his children Linda
(Keith) Letts, Adrienne Drummond, Jackie
(Gord) Down, Tonya (Rik) Skelton and Wade
(Laura) Podaima, 12 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn
Lou's passing is his brother Steve (Polly)
and sister-in-law Sophie as well as
numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lou
was predeceased by his loving wife of 58
years, Elsie (nee Neiman), son-in-law
Grant Drummond, brothers and sisters
Walter (Frances), Joe (Stella), Leonard,
Elizabeth (Peter) Andrusyshyn, John
(Nellie) and Annie (John) Talaga.
Dad was born on June 23, 1922 to John and
Mary Podaima who had immigrated to Canada.
He grew up on a small farm in Broad
Valley, MB. Dad began working in the auto
body industry and owned a family
restaurant in Treherne, MB before
returning to Winnipeg to finish his career
as an estimator for MPIC. Dad had a great
passion for sports, especially golf. He
also loved playing the accordion and
piano. Dad was the happiest when the whole
family was together.
The family wishes to extend their
heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Lions
Personal Care Centre for their care and
compassion during his stay. A memorial
service will be held on Monday, January
27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn, 4000
Portage Avenue.
