MARCUS DELMER FISHER
November 25, 1946 - April 28, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce
the unexpected passing of our father,
step-father, brother, uncle, grandfather,
cousin and friend.
Marcus was predeceased by his wife
Deborah, his mother Verna, father Marcus
B, his sister Judith and great nephew
Daniel.
He will be dearly missed by his son David
(Cathy), step-daughter Niki (Dave),
step-son Jason (Melissa), grand-daughters
Jett, Mackenzie (Dylan), Samantha (Calvin)
and great grandkids Jay and Elsie. Sisters
Susan (Bruce), Kathy, Brother-in-law Brian
(Patty), nieces Jackie (Brian), Krysten,
Lauren (Kurt), nephews Larry (Susan) and
Colin (Lily). Great nieces and great
nephews Noah, Abby, Drayven, Corson,
Kayla, Jesse, Holden, Huxley, Bowie, his
great great nephew Bentley, numerous
cousins across Canada, his beloved Aunt
Babe and chosen family Laney May.
Born in Winnipeg he attended Miles
MacDonell High School in East Kildonan and
Red River Community College. He always had
a natural artistic talent that he
inherited from his father. Marcus' life
was transformed with the arrival of The
Beatles which lit his musical soul. He
began forming bands starting with the
Matched Set playing rhythm guitar and
vocals. A few years later he joined The
Orfans where he filled in as a drummer,
something he had never played prior. His
musical career continued playing gigs
across North America with various bands
such as Aura, Third Edition, Critter,
Uncle Mickey, Sunshower, Just Another Band
From Winnipeg, Target, Streetheart and Hot
News to name a few.
In his late 20's he moved to White Rock
and joined the White Rock Fire Department
as a volunteer Firefighter. He dreamed of
following in the footsteps of his father
Mark B Fisher who retired as a Deputy
Chief from Winnipeg Fire Department.
Marcus achieved his dream and was hired
with West Vancouver Fire & Rescue as a
career Firefighter in 1977. He was a
founding member of the West Vancouver
Firefighters Honour Guard and worked up
the ranks to Captain where he served the
community for 29 years. He committed his
life to the Fire Service and Union Local
1525; his legacy, teasing sense of humour
and mentorship lives on today with many of
the senior members, officers and retirees.
Marcus was passionate about the BC
Coastline. He purchased the Double J and
resided on his beloved yacht for 10+
years. A self taught skipper, he navigated
every bay, inlet and harbour with family
and friends from Vancouver to Glacier Bay,
Alaska. Princess Louisa was a special
destination where he frequented often with
family, firefighter colleagues and
friends; music always readily available.
Travelling across Canada in their 26 foot
motorhome was also a highlight of
retirement; visiting family back East and
their favourite frequented spot at Loon
Lake in BC with Barkley always in tow.
A private family service may be held at a
later date but we encourage you to share
your wonderful stories and memories with
all of us.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to the West Vancouver
Firefighters Charitable Society.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy
may be shared at

the Fisher family.
