Gary MacLean
GARY MacLEAN

June 25, 1944 - December 5, 2001

It is with great sadness that the MacLean family announce the sudden passing of Gary MacLean. Left to remember him, and carry on for him, are his three sons, Paul, Travis and David; along with their mother and the girl he counted on most, Monica. He also leaves to mourn, his oldest brother Bob (Army), his only sister Janice (Bob), and his closest brother Blair (Marcia), and many nieces and nephews.

Gary had many dear friends, too many to mention, that will also grieve his passing.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Kenny and Ermy MacLean of Glace Bay.

Gary was born in Glace Bay, NS in 1944. The youngest of four, Gary taught himself how to play banjo and joined his first folk group at 16. At 20, Gary left Glace Bay to join Blair in Winnipeg and helped form another folk group called "The Vicious Circle". Later, Gary and Blair formed their own duo, the notorious "MacLean and MacLean".

After an exhausting 20 years of travelling as MacLean and MacLean, seven albums, defending the right to do their show in Ontario, partying with some of the brightest and the best, while trying to maintain a family life at home, Gary and Blair decided to finish their last tour in 1998. Gary went on to establish a new career as KY58 All Oldies "Big Daddy MacLean" and developed a loyal following.

Born with the gift of the gab, a strong sense of right and wrong, and most of all a keen sense of humour, Gary made friends wherever he went. Many thanks to everyone who showed love and care for him during his last months. He was especially comforted by the MacLean Family Trust Fund that was set up at the CIBC Bank to help complete the raising of his young sons. But most of all (for some strange reason) he was shocked at the love he received from all of you.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. with Rev. Robbi McDougall officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St.

P.S. Gary, I'll remember..... Love Monica

Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN EDEN FUNERAL HOME 4477 MAIN STREET 338-7111
